Kenya: The gift boxes made many children to join our Sunday school

Greeting in his wonderful name, am writing on behalf of Kingdom Worship church appreciating the (270) gift boxes received by our church. I want you to know that they brought a great impact that I had to expand my Sunday school classes. The gift boxes made many children to join our Sunday school.

We also received mail box materials for the training which has helped our classes so much to follow the bible on a systematic way. Most of our children have changed drastically as a result of mailbox lesson, they now know who is their enemy and who is their saviour is. The Sunday school teacher has shown a lot of commitment after the discipleship training and they say they can easily prepare children summons. It is my prayer as we finish Explore lesson 1-10 we will get Explorer lesson 2 especially for our teens.

Therefore we look forward to partner with you in this Ministry to help these children to grow into better citizen in the society. They will one day stand as worriors of Christ. May God bless you and keep you always. Am forever grateful to you. Yours in Christ, Bishop Abel Oyaro

Kenya: A Hunger for the Word of God

Pastor Sammy Nzau, Divine Destiny Youth Network for Christ and the newly born baby Divine Destiny Church, are very thankful to the Lord and operation Christmas child team and Samaritan Purse for what the Lord has done to them through the gift boxes they received last year.

Last year the Christian youth organization received 250 boxes and distributed them, the results was so tremendous that many children and their parents who never used go to church started coming to their center with need and hunger of being taught the word of God. The effects of these gifts in that community has given birth to a new church in an estate called Kasarani-Mwiki, some 20km from Nairobi city centre. The church is called Divine Destiny Church with 85 children. This year the attendance of children and their parent has increased and they are very grateful to the Lord.

After Sunday School teachers training on discipleship by the Mail Box Club and OCC which was at CFF church hall on 29th February, they started teaching the children on EXPLORER 1(LESSON 1-10) which 50 children aged 7yrs-14yrs attended and 20 teenagers gave their lives to Christ and were baptised though water immersion on Sunday of 11-05-08. They now look forward to organizing their graduation ceremony for their certificates from Mail Box Club. They wish blessings of God to OCC, Samaritan’s Purse, and Mail Box Club for their sacrifice and making this glorious task successful.

2024 Word for the Year

2024 may be a few months away, however, every year the Lord  has given a key word to focus on.  It feels the key word will be COURAGE OR COURAGEOUS.

So off to the internet to start capturing images and phrases along those lines.

What does it mean to have courage?

It means doing the right thing when others are doing wrong.

It means listening to that small voice inside and allowing God to work through the circumstances, the good times and the bad times.

It means a conscience decision to choose courage over fear.

It means stepping into the unknown and allowing God full reign in one's life.

Bottom line, Courage is a decision.

December Updates for my Vision Trip to Kenya

 Habari marafiki (Hello friends),

Habari yako? (How are you?)  Iwe asubuhi, mchana au usiku naomba unaendelea vizuri (Whether it is morning, afternoon or night, I pray you are doing well).

I have been using the DuoLingo app to learn Swahili and I have been practicing for the past 52 days, time is flying.  I started using the app soon after learning about this amazing opportunity to go to Kenya with Operation Christmas Child.  The Lord is daily answering my prayers to give me knowledge when I am learning this language.  I am currently in Unit 6 of Section 2.  I am learning words, phrases and grammar concepts for basic interactions.  There are a total of 5 sections and my goal is to complete it by sometime in May so I can go through any refresher areas.  One thing I have noticed is that with each Unit there is a prompt to see the terms that one will be presented with.  I do not open that, I just dive right in and attempt to guess the correct answer.  I am thrilled that I have achieved 500 lessons with 85% accuracy, learning 1237 words in total, practicing 2240 sentences and amongst the top 4% Swahili learning on DuoLingo.  I strive to spend a minimum of 15 minutes daily in the app learning.  I say this as confirmation of the Lord’s calling on my life of missions.  I would not be able to accomplish language skills without His divine intervention in my life. I believe the Lord has given me the ability to learn languages quickly, which is needed on the mission field.

Please continue to Pray

  • For each child who receives an Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift to experience God’s love and open their heart to the Gospel.

  • That friends and family who hear the Good News at outreach events will find even greater joy by trusting Christ.

  • For communities to be transformed by the power of the Gospel.

  • For many boys and girls to also participate in The Greatest Journey follow-up discipleship program and become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.

  • Travel Safety

  • Physically prepared and to learn the Swahili language (while not necessary I want to learn)

  • My eyes would be open to see His hands working amongst the Kenyans

As an update the Hillsborough county team collected over 23,800 shoeboxes.  Many go all over the continent of Africa and make a difference in the life of a child, with many children going through the discipleship program where they have the opportunity to receive Christ into their hearts and learn how to evangelize within their countries to bring more to Christ.

Many have asked if they could contribute to my trip, the answer is yes.  There are different ways you can give:

  • Zelle sends money electronically via my phone number 813-263-5326 or email occ.plantcity@gmail.com

  • Postal Mail - please send me a message and I will send you my mailing address.

More updates to come next month. Amani na baraka kwako na familia yako (Peace and blessings to you and your family).

Heri ya Krismasi na Mwaka Mpya (Merry Christmas and Happy New Year),
